TL;DR:
- An agency needed to scale its leadership quickly but could not afford the risk of a new, full-time hire.
- We were brought in to work as a fractional leader.
- In that time, we helped create new processes and structures to help them grow sustainably.
- Win-win.
The lifecycle of service agencies is a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, and when business is booming, it can be challenging to respond without taking incredible risks. A 15-year-old agency needed to quickly scale its team to sustain a recent influx of new clients but wasn’t ready to hire full-time leadership.
We were asked to join the team as a fractional leader to help scale their operations while they built up their team.
As a part of the leadership team, we facilitated weekly leadership meetings to solve issues related to team communication and collaboration, sales and estimating, new offerings, and hiring needs.
We took over responsibility for hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff while refining and documenting more efficient processes. As the agency took on larger clients with bigger budgets and expectations, we identified new hires, practices, and processes.
After nine months, we hired our replacement and left the agency bigger, better, and stronger than we found it.
